Free fibre upgrade

Free fibre upgrade on plans of 100/40 Mbps or faster. Conditions apply.

On copper, take a plan of 100/40 Mbps or faster and nbn may upgrade you to full fibre at no charge. Check your address and we tell you straight away, and you order it with your plan. Already on fibre with an older box? We can have it replaced for the 2 gigabit plans.

Free fibre upgrade

On Fibre to the Node, Building or Curb, take any plan of 100/40 Mbps or faster and nbn installs fibre to your home at no charge. A technician visit, on a day you choose. The build is free in exchange for staying on 100/40 Mbps or faster for 12 months. Move below that or cancel sooner and we charge $264.

Equipment upgrade

For the 2 gigabit plans on fibre, and the fastest nbn Fixed Wireless tier, nbn replaces the connection equipment at your premises as part of the order. We show you exactly what is involved before you choose. On nbn Fixed Wireless the new outdoor unit is fitted at no charge, in exchange for staying on the higher speed for 6 months; move down or cancel sooner and we charge $264.

* Estimate, not a measurement of our own network. We will replace it with our own measurement over time.

Prices are month to month with no fixed term and no early termination charge; the minimum total cost is one month of the plan price. Some connections and visits carry a once-off charge (a new development charge, a new line, a professional installation, a missed appointment, a no-fault-found visit), and a condition charge applies if you leave a free fibre upgrade inside 12 months or a high speed nbn Fixed Wireless plan inside 6 months of an equipment upgrade. We show every one before you order. See each plan's Critical Information Summary.

Your service uses shared addressing (CGNAT) by default; a static IPv4 address is $10 a month. This service does not work in a power outage and cannot call Triple Zero without power and a phone service. We do not sell nbn satellite.

Each plan's Critical Information Summary shows its typical evening speed (7pm to 11pm).

How a transfer works.

Order with us and we lodge the transfer with nbn co. You do not need to call your current provider first.

Your current service ends when ours activates, usually within one business day of our order. Your internet drops out while nbn moves it across, usually for about 20 minutes and up to 4 hours.

Check your current provider for anything you still owe them, such as a contract exit fee or a modem repayment, and keep a copy of any email address or bundled service you use before it ends. You read the full transfer notice before you accept the order, and you can withdraw at no cost any time before activation.

nbn plans FAQ

Questions people ask before they order.

Is there a contract?
No. Every plan is month to month with no fixed term and no early termination charge. The minimum total cost is one month of the plan price. Two condition charges exist and we show both before you order: if you take a free fibre upgrade and leave inside 12 months, or a high speed nbn Fixed Wireless plan inside 6 months of an equipment upgrade.
Are there any connection fees?
Most transfers and self install connections have none. Some connections and visits carry a once off charge: a new development, a new line, a professional installation or a missed appointment. Every one is shown to you before you order, and each plan’s Critical Information Summary lists them. There is currently no charge from nbn if a technician attends and finds no fault; if that ever changes, we publish the amount before it applies to any fault you ask us to lodge.
How long does it take to connect?
A transfer from another provider usually activates within one business day of our order. A new line or a change of technology needs an nbn technician appointment, which you choose during the order and can move from My Account.
Can I keep my own router?
Yes. The service connects with no username, password or VLAN, so most routers work out of the box, and our setup guide covers the three steps. Fibre to the Node and Fibre to the Building need a VDSL2 modem router; nbn co encourages using one it has tested.
Do you use CGNAT, and can I get a static IP?
Yes, your service uses shared public addressing (carrier grade NAT) by default. A static IPv4 address is $10 a month inc GST, and you can add it when you order or later from your account.
Why can’t I see every speed at my address?
We check what nbn co says your address can take and show every plan of ours that fits it. A copper line has a limit that nbn measures, and the fastest tiers need fibre or the newer nbn Fixed Wireless equipment. Where a free fibre upgrade would open more speeds, we tell you on the spot.
Does it work in a power outage, and can I call 000?
No. The service does not work in a power outage and it carries no phone line, so 000 cannot be called on it. If anyone at the premises relies on a medical alarm, a back to base alarm or Priority Assistance, tell us before you order. We do not offer Priority Assistance; Telstra does.
